Much of the time, patient visits will involve little more than an examination; but at some point treatment may be needed, even for those who look after their teeth and gums very well.
Whilst some of our patients may opt for one of our cosmetic procedures to improve their smile, others may need a general procedure, for example to restore the strength and integrity of a damaged tooth.
Fillings
The most common general procedure we provide is the dental filling.
This is typically used to restore a tooth which has suffered decay or where minor damage has occurred. The type of filling used may be either amalgam or a white “cosmetic” type, both of which offer a high level of strength. The advantage of the cosmetic filling is aesthetic as it looks nearly identical to the natural tooth.
Dental Bridge
A bridge can be used to restore a missing tooth, or number of teeth. Here, false teeth are positioned in the gap on a sturdy “bridge” and supported by the adjacent healthy teeth. The new replacement teeth are manufactured to match the shade of your natural teeth as closely as possible.
Dentures
Dentures are well known to most people and are an affordable way to replace missing teeth.
What is perhaps less well known though is that dentures are now more sophisticated and offer a better and more comfortable fit than may have been the case in the past. New, flexible materials and a more accurate fitting process are used to ensure that your new dentures are as comfortable as possible.
Root Canal Treatment
Where the internal part of the a tooth becomes infected, the pulp and root canals, then root canal treatment is necessary. Here, the top of the tooth is removed and then the infected pulp removed. The cavity and canals are then cleaned and filled and if required a crown is fitted to. By using root canal therapy, we can save a tooth which otherwise would need to have been extracted.
Other Dental Treatments
