Anxious Dental Patients
Dental anxiety is unfortunately experienced by a surprisingly large number of people in the UK and ranges from mild nervousness to extreme anxiety.
Whilst our friendly and experienced dental team aims to put patients at ease during their visit to our Harefield dental practice; for those suffering from high levels of anxiety, a little extra help may be needed.
Fortunately we are ideally placed to help and this is where our sedation service for anxious patients is an excellent solution.
Sedation
At Village Dental we offer Intravenous (IV) sedation which will enables even the most anxious patient to receive any dental treatment that they need.
Administered through a small needle in the back of the hand, IV Sedation acts quickly and effectively, leaving the patient fully conscious but in a very relaxed state. Full communication can still take place during the procedure if necessary although, for the patient, time will seem to pass very quickly and no pain will be felt.
Safety
Monitored by our experienced team, IV Sedation is both safe and effective. You should, however, ensure that you bring someone with you to drive you home afterwards as the effects of the sedation may remain for a short time afterwards.
